Deletions:

Internet use journal

I use email, web browsing, and IM on a regular basis, the first two more often than IM. I think I write on average 3 emails a day and receive about 6 (lots of spam too), but there are days when I write ten or fifteen messages a day, partly because I write about the same thing to everyone and I copy/ paste the message. I usually don't look forward to writing so many emails, because it takes up too much time and the best part about writing them is that I am relieved afterwards. So I guess I'm not crazy about writing emails, but I have to admit that many times I prefer this type of interaction to face- to- face interaction, which I think is much more confrontational. I use IM about once or twice a day during the week, but sometimes more rarely than that, and a couple of hours on the weekend, as this is the time when I catch up with friends and family. I think I use the web a lot more often/ addictively, probably about 20 times a day/ 2 hours a day, if not more. I use it for everything, from looking up vocabulary to finding telephone numbers, finding out information about someone I am going to meet, you name it. For me, probably the biggest disadvantage of having access to all these technologies is that very many times I use them as a distraction from doing work, e.g., when I have the writer's block, I go online looking for something completely useless, (but fun ) to take a break from what I'm supposed to be doing, and these breaks tend to be quite long, as one thing leads to another...
