TESL Methods
course blogs: I (
JonR) used blogs in my TESL methods course Fall 06 and found it was pretty well received by the students. Students posted reflections and ideas based on the class discussion, and other students had to comment on their posts. In class the next week, the posters would share interesting points that the commenters brought up. Since it was a big class (22 students, undergrad and grad mixed), I didn't require every student to post every week, but instead split the class into 5 groups or 4 or 5 each, so one week groups A & B would post, and groups C, D, & E would comment. The following week B & C would post, and D, E, and A would reply, etc., etc. This way the amount the commenters had to read, and the amount of sharing in class by the posters the following week wasn't overwhelming.
